Federal Energy Engineer

A Federal Energy Engineer designs, develops, or evaluates energy-related projects to reduce energy costs or improve energy efficiency at the facility level.  As you progress in your career, you may go to more complex facilities and/or oversee multiple facilities.  May participate or oversee energy and water audits and commissioning projects related to the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA).

Common Titles: 

Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Energy Engineer, Grades GS7-12, 800 Occupational Series

Education/Training: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred and may be required, preferably mechanical or electrical engineering 

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent preferred and may be required.
