John Dunlap, PE, LEED AP Founder and President of Dunlap & Partners Engineers. His technical expertise, gleaned from many years of practice, is extensive. His experience includes the design of cooling plants, heating plants, thermal storage and geothermal systems. Project experience includes design for industrial, institutional, commercial and healthcare facilities. He is a certified energy assessment professional and is knowledgeable in energy conservative studies and audits. John received LEED Accreditation in 2003, ASHRAE’s High Performance Building Design Professional Certification in 2008 and Certified Healthcare Facility Design Professional in 2009. He is also a certified Commissioned Process Management Professional and a Certified Building Energy Modeling Professional. He has served as chairman of ASHRAE’s national technical committees on noise and vibration and thermal storage. He has served as a national judge for ASHRAE’s annual energy awards and as ASHRAE Richmond Chapter President. He serves on the ASHRAE Society committees on development of sustainable design tools, Commissioning Certification Building Energy Assessment and is a consultant on the Mechanical Subcommittee of ASHRAE Standard 90.1.
A native of North Carolina, John received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, his MBA from VCU in Richmond, Virginia and has completed graduate work in Architecture at Clemson University. He is licensed in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
